Principal's Message - 11/24/19

Good evening, this is Dr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

No School November 27 - 29
I would like to begin this evening by reminding everyone that there will be no school for students this Wednesday, November 27 through Friday, November 29 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Classes will resume for students on Monday, December 2.

Forbush Theatre
Congratulations to our Theatre department for their excellent performance of The Little Mermaid Jr. this week. Our students put on another awesome show for our community! I would like to thank our theatre teacher, Jamie Campbell, for all her hard work. Also, thank you to all the parent volunteers within the Theatre Booster Club for their support of Forbush Arts.

Forbush HOSA
Several members of HOSA competed in the Piedmont Triad Regional HOSA competition recently held at Mount Airy High School. 17 students placed in the top-12 or better in various events. First place finishers included Zayley St. John for Human Growth and Development, Stacy Lowe in Physical Therapy, and Audrey Whitley in Speaking Skills. Congratulations to HOSA advisor Adrianna Sloan and Forbush HOSA.

Forbush FFA
Congratulations to Forbush FFA for placing 7th out of 29 teams who competed in the recent State FFA Land Judging Event. Out of the 109 competitors in the senior division, Ezekiel Matthews was recognized for placing 5th individually! Also, Kaleb Matthews placed 30th and Allie Long placed 78th respectively. Congratulations to FFA advisor Steven Calloway and the Forbush FFA.

Friends Feeding Friends
The Friends Feeding Friends food drive is underway. Students, please bring canned food items to your first period class. Other items that are in high need include: toothpaste, soap, toilet paper, laundry detergent, and dish detergent. (We are not in need of diapers at this time.) You may also give monetary donations. Each week the first period class that donates the most will receive breakfast and the class that donates the most overall will receive a special gift from Lowes Foods. Please help us help families in need during this Holiday season.

Forbush Angel Tree
Students, if you would like to donate a gift for the Forbush Angel Tree, drop by the office this week. You can choose an ornament, shop for the gift, and return the gift unwrapped to Mrs. Gentry in the office. You will receive two hours of community service and all gifts are due by December 9.

Yearbook Senior Page
Seniors, it's time to think about your Senior Page for the Yearbook. Go to the Forbush High School Website and click on the Yearbook Page under the Student tab for all the information. Ads are due December 20.

Principal's Message - 11/17/19

Good evening, this is Dr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Congratulations Football and Cross Country
I would like to congratulate our football team on their winning season. Our Falcons persevered through a number of injuries this season and finished the year with a 7-5 record, tied for third in the conference, and qualified for the state playoffs. Congratulations Falcons!

Congratulations to cross country runners Nate Warden and Bianca Gonzalez for qualifying and competing in the 2A State Meet recently. Both runners finished in the top-50 in the state and recorded personal best times. Congratulations to Nate and Bianca!

Driver Education
The next Driver Education class is scheduled to begin tomorrow, November 18, and will run through December 4. The class will be held after school from 3:15 to 6:15 in the Forbush media center. Students must be born on or before September 7, 2005 in order to take the course. No registration is necessary; please attend every session, pay the $65 class fee, and bring a notebook and pen to the class.

Forbush Theatre - The Little Mermaid, Jr.
The Forbush Theatre department presents The Little Mermaid Jr, with performances on November 22 and 23 at 7pm in the auditorium. Please see Mrs. Campbell for more information about purchasing tickets.

Students, if you are interested in trivia, join the Quiz Bowl team. Meetings are Thursday mornings at 7:45 in Senora White’s room (702-H).

Tuesday: Swimming vs Walkertown at the Yadkin Y (4:30pm) and Wrestling vs Statesville, North Stokes, and East Forsyth (5:00pm)
Saturday: Wrestling vs St. Stephens, Ashe, and Reagan (9:00am)

Principal's Message - 11/10/19

Good evening, this is Dr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Student Accomplishments
Thank you to all the students and staff who participated in the HOSA Band-Aids for Brenner’s project. Congratulations to Mrs. Funk’s first period class, which donated over 2,300 Band-Aids! As a school, we donated over 5,200 Band-Aids to Brenner’s for kids in need.

Congratulations to our men’s soccer team on another great season. Though our Falcons were knocked out of the playoffs last week, Forbush finished with a 16-8-1 record on the year, ending the season in third place in the conference.

Congratulations to our JV football team on another successful season. Our Falcons finished 8-2 on the year and won a share of the conference title. This is the second straight year our JV football team has finished atop the conference. Congratulations Falcons!

No School Tomorrow
Students and parents, this is a reminder that there will be no school tomorrow for students or staff in observance of Veterans Day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, November 12.

Order Forms for Mr. Senter
If you have chicken pie order forms for Mr. Senter, these forms are due back to him by this Wednesday, November 13.

Principal's Message - 11/3/19

Good evening, this is Dr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Student Accomplishments
Forbush has three chorus students who have qualified for the Mars Hill Choral Festival. Congratulations to Avery Durham, Dalton Gilmore, and Sophia Luper for qualifying for this extremely competitive choral festival!

Congratulations to our October Students of the Month: Carson Phillips, Ainsley Davis, Carter Brown, and Creed Atwood.

Congratulations to our volleyball team on a great season. Our Falcons advanced to the 3rd round of the state playoffs before falling to Brevard. Forbush won their second straight regular season conference title this year and finished the season with a 19-10 overall record.

ASVAB Testing
Forbush will be administering the ASVAB on November 12 at 8:30am. If you are interested in taking the ASVAB, sign up with LTC Brooks or MSG Hayes in Room 130A. Taking the test is NOT committing to military service but is a requirement for those who are considering one of the Armed Services. Also, taking the ASVAB will give students who are undecided on future plans an idea of careers for which they may be suitable.

Beta and NHS Induction Ceremony
The Induction Ceremony for Beta and National Honor Society will be held tomorrow, Monday, November 4, beginning at 7pm in the Forbush Auditorium.

Cafeteria Debts
Parents, please remember to keep your cafeteria accounts up to date and please pay off any charges your child may have incurred so far this school year.
