Principal's Message - 1/26/20

Good evening, this is Dr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Congratulations Forbush Swim Teams
The Men’s and Women’s swim teams recently competed at the conference meet, with both teams finishing 4th in the WPAC. Top performers for the Falcons included:

Nate Warden – 2nd place – Boys 200 Free
Suzie Beamguard – 2nd place – Girls 200 IM and 2nd place - Girls 500 Free
Samantha Post – 2nd place – Girls 100 Free and 3rd place - Girls 100 Back
Anna Owen, Demi Moore, Samantha Post, & Suzie Beamguard - 3rd place - Girls 400 Free Relay
Samantha Post, Emily Whitaker, Suzie Beamguard, & Morgan Lawson - 3rd place – Girls 200 Medley Relay

Congratulations to our Forbush Men’s and Women’s swim teams!

Paint Your Parking Spot Fundraiser
Student drivers, HOSA is running a “Paint Your Parking Spot” fundraiser to support pediatric cancer research. Students can paint their parking spot on February 10 for a $25 donation. To participate, you must complete all of the necessary paperwork by this Friday, January 31. See Mrs. Sloan in 520-E to pick up a form or if you have any questions.

Registration
Registration for 2020-2021 classes will begin tomorrow. Counselors will be meeting individually with students over the next several weeks. Parents, feel free to call or email your child’s counselor if you have any questions related to registration or your child’s classes for next year.

Athletics Booster Club Meeting
The Athletics Booster Club will be holding a meeting tomorrow (Monday, January 27) beginning at 7pm in the first cafeteria. We hope to see you there.

Forbush Band Chick-fil-A Night
This Thursday, January 30, the Forbush Band will be hosting a Chick-fil-A Spirit Night at the Chick-fil-A on Peace Haven. If you come in and order a meal from 5 to 8pm, Forbush Band receives 10% of the sales. The drive-through does not count, so please come inside, get some Chick-fil-A, and support the Forbush band!

Tuesday: JV Girls Basketball vs Reagan at 4:00, followed by JV Boys, Varsity Girls, and Varsity Boys vs Walkertown

Principal's Message - 1/19/20

Good evening, this is Dr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Forbush Hall of Fame
I want to begin this evening by thanking everyone who came out to Forbush this past Friday for our Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. It was a great evening to recognize eight individuals who have had such a positive impact on our school and our community. If you would like more information about our newest Hall of Fame inductees, please visit the Hall of Fame page on our school website.

No School for Students Monday
As a reminder, there will be no school tomorrow (Monday, January 20) for students or staff in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 21.

Homeroom Tuesday
On Tuesday, we will have a short homeroom class between 1st and 2nd periods. During this homeroom, students will receive registration sheets and additional information as they plan for classes for next school year. Parents of underclassmen, please review this registration sheet with your child this week. Individual registration meetings with counselors will begin later in January.

SCC Summer Classes
If you are a current sophomore or junior and you are interested in taking Surry Community College classes this summer, please see Mrs. Monroe as soon as possible. She will help you make an appointment with our SCC advisor. Our advisor will be here this week to help register students for summer classes.

Paint Your Parking Spot

Principal's Message - 1/12/20

Forbush Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
This Friday, January 17, we will induct eight new members into the Forbush High School Hall of Fame. This ceremony will take place at the conclusion of the Varsity Women’s basketball game vs. Carver at approximately 7:30pm. We hope to see you there!

Forbush Arts
The Drama Club will meet this Wednesday, January 15 at 7:40am in Mrs. Campbell's room in 704H. We will be discussing our fundraisers, performance opportunities, and our Spring Musical.

Forbush Sports

Principal's Message - 1/5/20

Good evening, this is Dr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Class Resume Tuesday, January 7
As a reminder, there will be no school for students tomorrow, Monday, January 6. Classes will resume for students on Tuesday, January 7. All students will report to their Homeroom class to begin the day on Tuesday.

Surry Community College classes begin Monday, January 6
For students taking Surry Community College courses, those courses begin tomorrow, Monday, January 6. Although you do not have a high school classes that day, you will be expected to be in attendance for your Surry classes. If you have any questions, please refer to the schedule given to you before Christmas. Online classes will be loaded into your Moodle no later than 5:00pm that evening. Once your course is loaded, you will need to log in to review the syllabus and guidelines for the class. If you have questions about the course syllabus, please see your SCC Advisor, Tish King, on Wednesday, January 8.

Forbush Basketball vs. Starmount Wednesday
This Wednesday, our Forbush basketball teams will host Starmount High School. All students wearing a Forbush jersey will receive free entry into the game. If you do not have a Forbush jersey, you can purchase one for only $5 during lunch Tuesday or Wednesday.

Also, Junior Civitan is hosting their 5th Annual Coat Drive during the game. If you have an extra coat, fleece, or hoodie that you are no longer wearing, please bring it to the game Wednesday night and donate it to a family in need. A donation box will be located in the lobby as you enter for the game.
