Principal's Message - 2/2/20

Good evening, this is Dr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Friday's Lockdown Drill
I would like to begin this evening by addressing the lockdown drill that took place last Friday morning. As I notified parents via social media Friday morning, we conducted a lockdown drill that morning which included a sweep of the campus by trained drug dogs. I would like to thank everyone for their participation and patience during that drill. While we did conduct a lockdown drill a couple weeks ago, we also partner with local law enforcement to conduct random searches of the campus by trained drug dogs, which also occurred that morning. Because of the timing of both drills, I’m sure many were concerned that Friday’s event was a true emergency. I assure you it was not. While these drills can be an inconvenience for staff and students, please understand that we conduct these drills and searches periodically as a precaution for our students and to help keep the entire Forbush community safe and secure. That is our number one goal. The safety and security of our students is our top priority and I thank you for entrusting us with your children every day. If you have any questions or concerns regarding any of our emergency procedures, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached via email at robert.kennedy@yadkin.k12.nc.us or you can call the school directly.

Indoor Track Conference Meet
The Forbush indoor track team recently competed in the Conference Meet and performed very well.

The following athletes earned all-conference honorable mention: Samuel Odom, Ethan Snow, Cooper Cagna, Jesse Keen, Brisa Aguilar, Gracie Holleman, Madison Luffman, Stacey Lowe, Kaitlyn Burton, and Laura Wyrick.

The following athletes earned all-conference: Nate Warden, Sarah Owens, Jessie Keaton, Mallory Martin, Bianca Gonzalez, Vianey Cortez, Emma Medwin, Lorena Mendoza, and Sarah Wiedenhoft.

The following athletes have qualified for the State Meet: Nate Warden (1600m), Mallory Martin (55m Hurdles), Sarah Owens (High Jump), Laura Wyrick (Pole Vault), and Bianca Gonzalez (500m).

Volleyball Interest Meeting
Anyone interested in playing volleyball, please meet in Coach Hamric’s room (817J) on Tuesday, February 4 at 7:55am.
