Principal's Message - 1/28/18

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Snow Make-up Days

I want to begin this evening my reminding everyone of our snow make up dates. As announced by Dr. Martin, YCS Superintendent, last week, the following days will serve as our snow make up days: Monday, February 12; Monday, April 9; and Friday, April 27.

Student Government Officers

We recently held elections for our Student Government officers. Congratulations to our 2017-18 class officers: Freshmen: President - Jaron Sears, VP - Lucas Payne; Sophomores: President - Kailey Smitherman; Juniors: President - Riley Warfel, VP - Hannah Shore

For our Seniors, we will have a runoff election between our top two finishers, Josh Clark and Jacob Williams, tomorrow, Tuesday, and Wednesday during all three lunches.

All-Conference Athletes

Congratulations to the following swimmers who were named to the WPAC All-Conference Team: Gina Myers, Hunter Kepley, Lauren Holowiti, Emily Post, and Suzie Beamguard. Also, Suzie Beamguard won the conference title in the 500 Free.

Congratulations to the following athletes who were named to the WPAC All-Conference Team for Indoor Track: Dakota Mendenhall, Anna Kathryn Kilby, Mackenzie Fulk, Mallory Martin, Monserrat Andrade, and Madisun Shore. Several of our athletes won conference titles, including Dakota Mendenhall in the 1,000-meter run, Mackenzie Fulk in the triple jump and long jump, and Mallory Martin in the 55-meter hurdles.

The Conference Tournament for Wrestling was held yesterday and the All-Conference Results will be shared in next week’s phone message.

8th Grade Parent Night

Our annual 8th Grade Parent Night is scheduled for Monday, February 5. This will be a floating event from 5:00 to 6:30. Rising freshmen and their parents are welcome to visit during that time frame and meet our teachers, learn more about our course and program offerings, and become more familiar with our campus. We look forward to seeing you there!

Principal's Message - 1/21/18

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. Now that the winter weather appears to be behind us for the time being, I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Snow Days

Regarding the snow days from last week, no makeup dates have been announced at this time. However, the next Yadkin County School Board meeting is scheduled for this Tuesday. Please check our website as well as our social media platforms on Facebook and Twitter for updates and announcements regarding our snow makeup days.

Upcoming Events

Our annual 8th Grade Parent Night and Open House is scheduled for Monday, February 5. Please save the date and be on the lookout for more details coming soon.

Third Quarter Progress Reports will go home on Wednesday, February 7.

Our Spring Chorus Concert is scheduled for Thursday, February 22. Please save the date; this event will begin at 7pm in the Forbush Auditorium.

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

No School Tomorrow - MLK Jr. Holiday

Students and parents, please be reminded that there will be no school tomorrow, Monday, January 15, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr., Holiday. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 16.

Clubs and Organizations

If you are interested in playing men's tennis this spring, please see Coach Tuck in 805J to sign up.

There will be a Skills Meeting on Tuesday, January 16 at 7:40AM in room 519E. All State and Local Members please attend.

Anyone interested in playing Men's Golf this Spring, please see Coach Pruitt in room 306C by Friday, January 19 to pick up a Golf Packet.

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I hope everyone enjoyed the Holiday season and had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

First Day of the Spring Semester - Tuesday, January 9

There will be no school for students tomorrow, Monday, January 8. Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 9. All students will report to their Homeroom class on Tuesday morning at the beginning of the school day to pick up their Spring Semester schedules.

Schedule Change Requests

Students may request changes to their Spring Semester schedule this week. If you would like to request a change to your Spring Semester schedule, please report to the Counseling Office and complete the appropriate paperwork. Please remember that, due to class size restrictions and other factors, not all schedule change requests can be honored. However, we will try our best to accommodate all schedule change requests.

Report Cards - Wednesday, January 10

All students will report to their Homeroom class on Wednesday morning at the beginning of the school day to pick up their Fall Semester Report Cards. Parents, this is a reminder that Report Cards from the Fall Semester will go home this Wednesday.
