Principal's Message - 11/25/18

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I hope everyone has enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

NC Youth Legislative Assembly
Students, if you are interested in applying for the North Carolina Youth Legislative Assembly, please see Mrs. Whitley in Student Services for more information. The YLA gives high school students the chance to draft, debate, and vote on mock legislative bills while developing skills in research, interviewing, and policy writing. Once again, if you would like more information about this program, please see Mrs. Whitley in our Student Services office.

Forbush Fall Band Concert
The Forbush Fall Band Concert is scheduled for this Thursday, November 29. This event will begin at 7pm at Forbush Middle School and will feature bands from the high school and middle school. Dewey’s products will also be on sell that evening and the Band Boosters will be raffling a Dewey’s holiday basket.

Clubs and Organizations
The Forbush Junior Civitans are collecting coats for their 4th annual Coat Drive. You can donate your gently used coats this Wednesday, November 28 at our home basketball game.

If you ordered a chicken pie from Mr. Senter, the last day for pickup is tomorrow, Monday, November 26. Please pick up items in the Auto Shop at 3:10. Also, fruit and nut orders are due this week to Mr. Senter as well.

FFA invites you to learn how to make a Christmas wreath. Mr. Elliott will have a presentation for all interested students this Wednesday, November 28, from 3:15 to 4:30 in 518-E.

Students, the Forbush Angel Tree is now up, so please stop by the office if you would like to help those in need during the holiday season. Drop by the office, choose an ornament, shop for the gift listed, and return the gift (unwrapped) to the office. You will receive two hours of community service and help make someone’s holiday a little brighter this year!

Student Services
An admissions counselor from Campbell University will be on campus this Wednesday, November 28, at 2:00 to meet with prospective students. Students and parents, if you are interested in learning more about Campbell University, see Mrs. Monroe in Student Services to sign up.

Principal's Message - 11/18/18

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

No School November 21-23
I want begin this evening by reminding everyone that there will be no school this Wednesday, November 21 through Friday November 23 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Students will return to class on Monday, November 26.

Congratulations
With the fall sports season coming to an end, I want to congratulate our varsity and JV football teams on their excellent season. Our JV team finished with a 9-1 record and finished as the top JV team in the conference. The varsity team finished 3rd in the conference this season and picked up several exciting victories this year, including wins over Walkertown, Surry Central, county-rival Starmount. Congratulations to our varsity and JV football teams.

I also want to congratulate our Theatre Department and teacher Jamie Campbell on the excellent performances last week. Our theatre students put on an incredible performance of Aladdin Jr. Great job students and thank you to everyone who came out to watch the show and support our arts department.

Forbush Angel Tree
Students, the Forbush Angel Tree is now up, so please stop by the office if you would like to help those in need during the holiday season. The Bush Band Dewey’s Holiday store at Collide Church in Yadkinville is now open! The store will be open Monday through Friday from 4pm to 7pm and Saturdays from noon to 7pm until December 23.

Principal's Message - 11/11/18

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

No School Tomorrow in Observance of Veterans Day
I want to begin this evening by reminding everyone that there will be no school for students or staff tomorrow, Monday, November 12, in observance of Veterans Day. I hope everyone is able to relax and enjoy the day off in remembrance of all the many sacrifices made by our nation’s veterans.

Congratulations
I would like to congratulate our men’s soccer team on a successful season. Our Falcons won 11 matches, including 5 in conference, and qualified for the state playoffs before falling to Forest Hills. Congratulations to our men’s soccer team.

I would also like to congratulate our Competition Cheerleading team on placing second at their Pre-State Competition last week. They will compete in the State Cheerleading Invitation on December 1st in Raleigh. Best of luck to our Cheerleaders!

Finally, I would like to congratulate our Students of the Month for the month of October. Congratulations to Carson Phillips, Avery Durham, Monte Scott, and Emily Post, our October Students of the Month.

Student Services
Students and parents, a representative from UNC-G will be on campus this Wednesday, November 14, to talk about admission requirements and campus life. This event will begin at 9am in the Forbush media center. Students and/or parents, if you would like to attend, please sign up with Mrs. Monroe in the Student Services office.

Fall Theatre Performance - Aladdin Jr.
If you have not already purchased tickets to our Fall Theatre Performance of Aladdin Jr, be sure to do so before it’s too late! Our evening performances are scheduled for this Friday, November 16, and this Saturday, November 17. Both performances will begin at 7pm in the Forbush Auditorium. We hope to see you there!

If you would like to order a chicken pie to support Forbush Skills, please return all orders to Mr. Senter by the end of the day on Wednesday, November 14.

The Forbush Band Boosters’ Dewey’s Pre-Sale has begun! Please see any band student or parent or Mrs. Peterson to pre-order your Dewey’s Bakery goodies. Also, the Bush Band Dewey’s Holiday store at Collide Church in Yadkinville will open on Saturday, November 17 at 12 noon. The store will be open Monday through Friday from 4pm to 7pm and Saturdays from noon to 7pm until December 23.

Mark your calendars for the Bush Band Chick-Fil-A Spirit night, scheduled for Thursday, November 15 from 5pm to 8pm at the Peace Haven Road location in Winston-Salem. The band receives 10% of all non-drive thru sales, so come in or order online and support the Bush Band!

Principal's Message - 11/4/18

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Congratulations to Mr. Hauser
I want to begin this evening by congratulating Forbush staff member Chris Hauser. Mr. Hauser was recently recognized as Philanthropist of the Year by the Yadkin Community Foundation thanks to his dedication to the greater Forbush community. As many of you know, Mr. Hauser is a local pastor who also volunteers countless hours at Forbush High School and across Yadkin County. Congratulations to Mr. Hauser on this much-deserved honor!

Congratulations Forbush Volleyball
Congratulations to our Forbush volleyball team on an outstanding season. Our Falcons won their first conference regular season and tournament title since 2006, going undefeated in conference play and making it to the third round of the state playoffs. Congratulations Forbush volleyball on an awesome season!

Congratulations Forbush Chorus
Forbush High School recently had six Chorus students selected to participate in the Mars Hill Choral Festival. Congratulations to Chasten Coleman, Tori Hicks, Brady Miller, Hannah Pettitt, Haley Reinhardt, and Nikita Sizemore, and best of luck at the Mars Hill Choral Festival!

Students of the Month
The Forbush staff recently recognized four students for their hard work, positive attitude, and remarkable character. These students were selected as our “Students of the Month.” Congratulations to the following students: Christian Furno, Emily Whitaker, Hailey Buelin, and Ronnie Hampton.

Seniors - Cap & Gown / Class Ring Orders
Seniors, Jostens will be on campus this Thursday, November 8 to take orders for class rings and to take cap and gown pictures and orders. Our Jostens representative will be available during all lunches in the A-Building lobby.

Bush Band Updates
The Forbush Band Boosters’ Dewey’s Pre-Sale has begun! Please see any band student, parent, or Mrs. Peterson to pre-order your Dewey’s Bakery goodies. ASVAB
Anyone interested in taking the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Test, also known as the ASVAB, can sign up with LTC Brooks or MSG Hayes in room 130A. The test will be administered at FHS on November 13. Taking the test is NOT committing to military service but is a requirement for those who are considering one of the Armed Services.
