Principal's Message - 1/27/19

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Congratulations
I want to begin this evening by congratulating some of our student-athletes on their recent accomplishments. Congratulations to Mallory Martin for winning the indoor track conference championship in the 55-meter hurdles. Mallory was also named all-conference in that event. Also, Sarah Owens was named all-conference in the high jump. Finally, Nate Warden earned honorable mention all-conference in the 1,600-meter run, while Laura Wyrick earned honorable mention all-conference in the pole vault. Congratulations to Mallory, Sarah, Nate, and Laura!

Student Services Department
Students, registration for the 2019-2020 school year will begin this week. Parents, feel free to call or email your child’s counselor if you would like to make an appointment regarding their schedule for next school year.

Students, there is a new scholarship opportunity available for current sophomores and juniors. The Shore Scholars program will begin next fall and students may apply in the Student Services office. The program is no cost to the student and financial assistance of up to $1,200 a year is available. The program also provides each student with a mentor within a peer cohort. If you have at least a 3.0 GPA and are seeking college or career training for after high school, see your counselor for an application in the Student Services office.

Forbush Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Please save the date for the Induction Ceremony of our inaugural class of the Forbush Hall of Fame. Ten people will be inducted into the Forbush Hall of Fame this Friday, February 1, between the women’s and men’s basketball games. The ceremony should begin at approximately 7:30pm. We hope to see you there!

8th Grade Open House
Current 8th grade students and their parents are invited to attend the Forbush High School "8th Grade Open House" on Tuesday, February 5, from 5pm to 7pm. This will be a floating Open House with department representatives available in the Forbush High School Gym to meet with students and their parents. Forbush administration will also lead two short presentations in Cafeteria One, beginning at 5pm and 6pm. We hope to see you there!

Principal's Message - 1/20/19

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

No School Tomorrow
I want to begin this evening by reminding everyone that there will be no school tomorrow, Monday, January 21, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr., Holiday. Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 22.

Congratulations
I would like to congratulate a couple of our student-athletes on their recent milestones. Congratulations to Parkley Hennings, who scored her 1,000th career point in a recent basketball game vs. Starmount High School. Also, congratulations to wrestler Chase Farmer, who recently picked up his 100th career victory. Congratulations to both of these Falcon student-athletes.

Student Services
Students, registration for the 2019-2020 school year will begin January 28. Parents, feel free to call or email your child’s counselor if you would like to make an appointment regarding their schedule for next year. Students will receive class registration forms on Tuesday.

Driver's Education Classes
The Spring Driver’s Education course will begin Tuesday, January 22. You must have been born on or before July 28, 2004 to attend. There is no pre-registration and the classes will be held in the Media Center from 3:15 to 6:15. 100% attendance is required, the fee for joining is $65, and students must provide a notebook and pen. If you have any questions, please email Mr. Pruitt.

Junior Civitans Fundraiser
Beginning next week, Junior Civitans will be collecting money during 3rd period to aid the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in their fight against blood cancer. Students, please consider donating; every little bit helps. You may also donate online by going to “studentseries.org” and searching for “Forbush.” If our school raises at least $750, the 3rd period class that raises the most money will receive a free Olive Garden lunch after the campaign concludes. There will also be free Krispy Kreme donuts given to the class that raises the most each week.

Forbush Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Please save the date for the Induction Ceremony of our inaugural class of the Forbush Hall of Fame. Ten people will be inducted into the Forbush Hall of Fame on Friday, February 1, between the women’s and men’s basketball games. The ceremony should begin at approximately 7:30pm. We hope to see you there!

Principal's Message - 1/13/19

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Shore Scholars Programs

Student-Owned Devices
Students, if you are now bringing your own device to school and have not yet seen Mrs. Frazier to have its MAC address registered, please do so this week. There are changes coming to our networks and we want to be sure you will be able to access the internet following those changes.

Clubs and Organizations
Anyone interest in track and field this spring, please see one of the following coaches: Mr. Beuter in room 202-B, Mr. Hoots in room 411-D, or Mrs. Beuter in room 607-G. Also, please make sure you have a current physical and a completed concussion form by February 13th.

There will be an interest meeting for all girls interested in playing soccer this year on January 14th at 3:30 in Cafeteria 1. This meeting includes all returning players as well.

Principal's Message - 1/6/19

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I hope everyone has had a restful and relaxing Holiday break. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Spring Semester Begins Tomorrow
The Spring Semester will begin tomorrow, Monday, January 7. All students will report to their Homeroom class at the start of the school day tomorrow to pick up their spring semester schedules. If students would like to request a change to their spring semester schedule, please complete a schedule change request form in the Student Services department. Please remember that class availability is limited and only schedule change requests related to legitimate extenuating circumstances will be considered.

College Fair
On Wednesday, January 9, our basketball teams will host Starmount here at Forbush High School. Also that night, we will host a College Fair open to all students and parents. This College Fair will begin at 5pm in the second cafeteria and numerous local colleges will be in attendance. We invite all students and parents to attend the Forbush / Starmount basketball games and visit our College Fair this Wednesday.

JROTC Promotion Ceremony
The Forbush JROTC will host a Promotion Ceremony this Thursday, January 10. This event will begin at 5pm in the Forbush Auditorium. Parents and community members are invited to attend. We hope to see you there!
