Principal's Message - 10/30/16

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I hope everyone had a great weekend. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

I want to begin this evening by reminding everyone that this Tuesday, November 1, will be “Marshall Baker Day.” Please wear your t-shirts! If you would like to purchase a t-shirt, see SeƱora Helton in 703H. Also, stop by the Forbush News Team table during lunch in the lobby of A building to send a personal recorded message to Marshall. We are hosting a Powder Puff football game on Tuesday night, beginning at 7pm. Admission is $3 and all proceeds will donated to Marshall Baker and his family.

Congratulations to the volleyball team on a successful season. The Falcons finished with a 17-8 record this year, finishing second in the conference and making it to the second round of the state playoffs. Congratulations also goes out to our men’s soccer team, who finished the regular season undefeated. The playoff brackets have not yet been released but the Falcons will play their first match at home this week.

Clubs and Organizations
There will be a mandatory parent meeting tomorrow (Monday, October 31) in the gym at 6:00 for anyone trying out for men's basketball. Tryouts will start immediately following the meeting and will be held next through Wednesday. You must have an updated physical to participate.

The Bush Band is having their annual mattress sale on Saturday, November 5, in the lobby of A building from 10am to 5pm. This money helps to replace instruments, music stands, and several other items in the classrooms. Please contact Mr. Brusseau if you have any questions.

Any student interested in becoming a member of the Student Leadership Team, please e-mail Coach James for an application. All applications are due tomorrow (Monday, October 31).

The deadline for NHS applications is this Friday, November 4. Please turn in your completed envelope to Mrs. Roberts or Mr. Hauser by the end of the school day on Friday.

Additional Reminders
If you are interested in taking Surry Community College classes for the spring semester, please see Ms. Pennix in 600G on Tuesdays from 9am to 2pm. Most classes fill quickly so do not wait!

That is all for this evening. Please do not hesitate to call or email me if you ever have any questions or concerns. Thank you very much for your time this evening. Good night.
