Principal's Message - 3/19/17

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Student Achievements
I want to begin this evening by congratulating some of our students on their recent accomplishments. Congratulations to the Falcon Battalion JROTC, which finished 3rd overall at the East Rowan Drill Meet last weekend.

Also, congratulations to our Hunter Safety team, which finished first in the district tournament last weekend. Austin Zachary finished first in shootout, Jordan Yale finished first in archery, and Dylan Horn was named overall tournament winner.

Lastly, congratulations to the outstanding performance of our DECA club at their recent state competition. The team won the “Chapter of Distinction” award while 14 students scored proficient. Mallory Fobes was the top finalist in Principles of Marketing. Sierra Winters finished sixth in restaurant and food service management and qualified to compete at the international competition.

Congratulations to all of these students!

Reminder - No School Tomorrow or Tuesday
Parents and students, this is a reminder that there will be no school tomorrow or Tuesday. Students will return to classes on Wednesday, March 22.

Clubs and Organizations
If you would like to join the Forbush Relay for Life team, please visit the lobby of A-building during lunch next week. If you would like a t-shirt, please place your order soon; t-shirt sales will close on Friday, March 24.

This Friday, March 24, is the last day to purchase prom tickets. Please visit Senora Helton’s room (703H) at break or during lunch to purchase tickets. All school debt, including cafeteria charges, must be paid before prom tickets can be purchased.

All Beta members are reminded that points are due April 1. Please verify that all your activities are approved before April 1. If you do not turn in your points, you will not be eligible for Beta next year.

Blood Drive at Forbush Elementary
Forbush Elementary School will be hosting a Blood Drive on Monday, March 27, from 1pm to 6pm. The Blood Drive will be held in memory of Marshall Baker, a Forbush High student who passed away last year after a long battle with cancer. You can register for the Blood Drive online through the American Red Cross or you can call FES at 336-699-8447 to schedule an appointment.

That is all for this evening. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call or email me anytime. Thank you very much for your time this evening. Good night.
