Principal's Message - 9/24/17

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

No School Tomorrow
I want to begin this evening by reminding everyone that there will be no school tomorrow, Monday, September 25. Tomorrow is a teacher workday, so there will be no school for students. Students will return to school on Tuesday, September 26.

Child Nutrition Department
If you feel you need assistance to pay for your child’s breakfast and lunch, please complete a free and reduced meal form as soon as possible. If you qualified last year for free or reduced-priced lunch and have not yet re-applied, you must do so by October 1. As a reminder, you must re-apply for free or reduced lunch every year in order to receive this service.

School Counseling Office
Sophomore and Juniors, sign-ups for the PSAT have been extended. You can sign up in the counseling office with Mrs. Monroe during your lunch and the cost is $15. The deadline to sign up is now October 3 or until our spots fill up. The PSAT will be given on October 14 at 8am.

Seniors, mark your calendars for a Financial Aid Workshop on October 3 at 6pm in the Auditorium. If you are planning to attend college next year and need money to help pay for college, then this workshop is for you. Both parents and students are encouraged to attend. If you have any questions, please contact the Counseling Office.

Juniors and Seniors, are you interested in taking College Classes this spring? Registration for spring classes begins in October. To start the process, first complete a Career & College Promise application from Ms. Mitze. Next, see Mrs. Pennix in Room 600G on Tuesdays from 9:00am-1:30pm for more information.

Clubs and Organizations
Our Fall Blood Drive will be this Friday, September 29. Students will be available during some lunches for you to sign up to donate or you can see Mrs. Sloan in room 520E. Donors who are younger than 16 years old will need parental consent and all donors will need a photo ID.

Skills members who are planning to travel to the Fair on October 2 must see Mr. Senter and sign up by this Thursday, September 28. There will have a meeting for all Skills members (State and Local) on that Thursday at 7:40. If you do not attend the meeting, you will not be able to go to the Fair.
