Principal's Message - 4/22/18

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Student Accomplishments
I want to begin this evening by congratulating our Theatre department on an excellent spring musical this past weekend. Congratulations to Mrs. Campbell, Mrs. Roberts, and all of our Theatre students!

I also want to thank Mrs. Sloan, Ms. Carter, and all of our Health Science students for executing another great Blood Drive last week at Forbush High School.

Last but definitely not least… congratulations to senior Zach Morris, who placed 1st in the state in the Skills USA competition in Motorcycle Technology. Zach will now compete at the National level this summer. Forbush Skills had six students place in the top 5 in the state in their respective categories.

School Counseling Office
A representative from Wilkes Community College will be set up in the A building lobby during all lunches tomorrow, Monday, April 23, to talk with seniors who have applied to Wilkes or other students who are considering Wilkes Community College. If you are interested in learning more about WCC, please be sure to stop by.

Seniors, the deadline for the Frank Steelman Scholarship is Wednesday, April 25. If you are planning to go into a business-related field, please apply for this $1,000 scholarship. See Mrs. Monroe in the Counseling Office for an application.

College Day is this Friday April 27. Seniors, if you will be attending a post-secondary school next fall, wear your future school gear and have your college signing day captured in pictures here at Forbush. This event includes those enlisting with our nation’s armed forces! The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, April 25. Sign up in the guidance office with Ms. Monroe or see Mr. Sorrell if you have any questions.

Clubs and Organizations
Spring photos are this Wednesday, April 25, in the auditorium. Stop by the office to pick up an order form. A completed order form is required to have your picture taken.

If you are interested in participating in Camp Med, a free, three-day summer medical camp at Surry Community College in June, pick up an application packet from Mrs. Sloan in 520-E or the Counseling Office this week. Applications are due Wednesday, April 25.

Seniors who wish to apply for the American Red Cross Scholarship should see Mrs. Sloan for an application. Applications are due this Friday, April 27.

The Falcon Battalion JROTC is accepting donations to support families affected by the tornadoes that hit Greensboro last Sunday. Donated items can include toiletries, batteries, new clothing, non-perishable food, and bottled water. Please bring to room 130-A if you would like to contribute.

That is all for this evening. Please be sure to check out our web site and follow us on Twitter and Facebook for daily updates. Thank you for your time this evening, goodnight.
