Principal's Message - 11/20/16

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

I want to begin this evening by reminding everyone that there will be no school on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of this week (November 23-25) in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. I hope everyone has the opportunity to rest, relax, and enjoy quality time with friends and family. Once again, there will be no school on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of this week (November 23-25) in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.

FCA has partnered with Friends Feeding Friends for this year’s holiday food drive. Each first period class will be collecting canned food items and other nonperishable goods to assist those in need this Holiday season. We have have three collection days: November 30, December 7, and December 14. FCA will provide breakfast to the first period class who has the most items turned in after each of the three collection days. Thank you in advance for supporting this great cause.

Our Forbush High School Angel Tree is up in the office. If you would like to participate, you may visit the office, select your paper ornament, and shop for a friend in need. Bring the unwrapped gift to Mrs. Gentry in the office and be sure the paper ornament is taped securely to your gift. Students who shop will receive 2 hours of community service and all gifts are due December 6.

Clubs and Organizations
Please join the FHS Basketball Cheerleaders as we eat pancakes with Santa and Mrs. Claus on December 10 from 8:30-11:00 in the Forbush cafeteria. There will be vendors, crafts for the kids, and a special performance by the cheerleaders. You can also get a picture taken with Santa. The cost is $10 per person and children 2 years and under are free. Reserve your seat today by emailing coach Jamie Elmore at jamie.elmore@yadkin.k12.nc.us.

For HOSA members, all orders for the dining attraction books are due to Mrs. Sloan tomorrow. District competition has been rescheduled for December 10 at West Wilkes High School.

The softball team will have workouts at the field house on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30.

For football players, there will be a linemen meeting during morning break in Coach Sawyer's room 603G tomorrow for all returning JV and Varsity linemen.
