Principal's Message - 2/4/18

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

8th Grade Parent Night Rescheduled
As you just heard from Dr. Martin's message, Yadkin County Schools will operate on a three-hour delay tomorrow with the option to close if necessary. Because of the abbreviated schedule, we will be unable to host our 8th grade tours tomorrow. Therefore, we are going to reschedule our 8th grade tours and our 8th grade Parent Night for Monday, February 12. Once again, tomorrow evening's 8th grade Parent Night has been postponed and will be rescheduled for Monday, February 12, from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.

Forbush JROTC
Congratulations to our Forbush JROTC cadets who recently competed in a rifle competition at Fred T. Foard High School. All three Forbush teams finished in the top 16 out of 63. The team of Brady Carter, Mason Hester, Chris Gieger, and John Collins finished in first place overall. Brady Carter was also the competition’s top overall firer out of 250 competitors, while Mason Hester finished second in the kneeling position and Clay Spann finished third in the new firer prone position. Congratulations cadets!

Forbush Wrestling
Congratulations to our Wrestling team for their strong finish in the WPAC Wrestling Tournament last weekend. Eli Thomas, Hayden Price, Chase Farmer, and Worth Martin all finished 2nd in their respective weight classes, while Armando Velasquez finished 4th. Regionals begin this weekend; best of luck to our Forbush wrestlers!

School Counseling Office
All juniors and their parents are invited to a Junior Parent Info Session on Thursday, February 8. This event will be held in B building beginning at 6pm. This is your chance to learn more about the college application process, ACT & SAT testing, financial aid, resume writing, recommendations, and more. We hope to see you there!

Clubs and Organizations
HOSA’s Band-Aids for Brenner’s drive will begin next week. The first period class that donates the most new, unopened boxes of character Band-Aids will win a free breakfast. This event will run through February 16.

FCCLA will be selling Valentine Cupcake Grams next week during lunches. Cupcakes are $1 and will be delivered on February 14 during 4th period.

The deadline to register for the Skills USA Regional Competition is this Wednesday, February 7. See Mr. Senter in 519E to register by Wednesday.

Yearbooks will be on sale next week during all lunches. Yearbooks are $70 and you can reserve your copy by putting down a $25 deposit.

That is all for this evening. Please be sure to check out our web site and follow us on Twitter and Facebook for daily updates. Thank you for your time this evening, goodnight.
