Principal's Message - 1/20/19

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

No School Tomorrow
I want to begin this evening by reminding everyone that there will be no school tomorrow, Monday, January 21, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr., Holiday. Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 22.

Congratulations
I would like to congratulate a couple of our student-athletes on their recent milestones. Congratulations to Parkley Hennings, who scored her 1,000th career point in a recent basketball game vs. Starmount High School. Also, congratulations to wrestler Chase Farmer, who recently picked up his 100th career victory. Congratulations to both of these Falcon student-athletes.

Student Services
Students, registration for the 2019-2020 school year will begin January 28. Parents, feel free to call or email your child’s counselor if you would like to make an appointment regarding their schedule for next year. Students will receive class registration forms on Tuesday.

Driver's Education Classes
The Spring Driver’s Education course will begin Tuesday, January 22. You must have been born on or before July 28, 2004 to attend. There is no pre-registration and the classes will be held in the Media Center from 3:15 to 6:15. 100% attendance is required, the fee for joining is $65, and students must provide a notebook and pen. If you have any questions, please email Mr. Pruitt.

Junior Civitans Fundraiser
Beginning next week, Junior Civitans will be collecting money during 3rd period to aid the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in their fight against blood cancer. Students, please consider donating; every little bit helps. You may also donate online by going to “studentseries.org” and searching for “Forbush.” If our school raises at least $750, the 3rd period class that raises the most money will receive a free Olive Garden lunch after the campaign concludes. There will also be free Krispy Kreme donuts given to the class that raises the most each week.

Forbush Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Please save the date for the Induction Ceremony of our inaugural class of the Forbush Hall of Fame. Ten people will be inducted into the Forbush Hall of Fame on Friday, February 1, between the women’s and men’s basketball games. The ceremony should begin at approximately 7:30pm. We hope to see you there!

Home Athletic Events
Monday: JV and Varsity Men’s Basketball vs. Millennium Charter

That is all for this evening. As always, if you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call or email me anytime. Also, please be sure to check out our web site and follow us on Twitter and Facebook for daily updates. Thank you for your time this evening, goodnight.
