Principal's Message - 2/17/19

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Student Accomplishments
Congratulations to our student-athletes who competed at the Indoor Track State Championships last weekend. Nate Warden, Laura Wyrick, and Mallory Martin all competed in events at the State Championships. Also, congratulations to our wrestlers who competed in Regionals last weekend. Eli Thomas finished second in his weight class while Edwin Pozo finished fourth, so both Eli and Edwin qualified for the State Wrestling Tournament. Results from the State Tournament will be shared in next week’s phone message.

Congratulations to our boys and girls JV basketball teams on their successful seasons. Our girls JV team finished atop the conference with a 4-0 conference record and 11-5 overall. Our boys team also finished atop the conference, ending the season with a 12-0 conference record and 21-2 record overall. Congratulations to our JV boys and girls basketball teams!

ACT Testing This Wednesday
This Wednesday, February 20, all Juniors will be taking the ACT. All Juniors are reminded to report to their testing location as soon as the bell rings to start the school day. Juniors, don’t forget, ACT information and prep activities can be found on our school website under the “Students” tab. For all students not taking the ACT, Wednesday, February 20 will be a regular school day with a normal bell schedule.

Skills USA
There will be a meeting for all members of Skills USA who plan to attend Regional Competition this Wednesday, February 20 at 7:40am in room 519-E. If you plan to attend Regionals, you must attend this meeting. Please see Mr. Senter if you have any questions.

Parents and students, this is the last week to pre-order strawberries. If you would like to place an order for strawberries, please contact Mr. Senter or speak with a member of Skills USA.

Interested in a Career in Law Enforcement?
Students, are you interested in a career in law enforcement? If so, Officer J.D. Barnes with the Winston-Salem Police Department will be on campus this Thursday, February 21 from 9:30 to 11:30 in 603-G and in the A-Building Lobby during all lunches. Sign up in Student Services if you would like to attend.

Basketball Conference Tournaments
The semifinals and finals of the men’s and women’s basketball conference tournaments will be held at Forbush High School this week. Games will be held on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Please check our Facebook or Twitter site for information about the schedule for this week’s conference tournament games.
