Principal's Message - 9/1/19

Good evening, this is Dr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

No School Tomorrow - Labor Day Holiday
I want to begin this evening by reminding everyone that there is no school tomorrow for students or staff in observance of Labor Day. Classes resume Tuesday, September 3.

Teacher Office Hours
As we enter the fourth week of school, I want to remind students and parents that our teachers have designated mornings when they are available to help students before the school day begins. We call this time “office hours,” and each teacher has at least two days a week when they are available to help students make up missed work or receive tutoring if they are struggling in a class. Students, I highly recommend using this time between 7:40 and 8:10 each morning if you miss a class due to an absence or if you would like some extra help from your teacher.

Paperwork for Free- or Reduced-Price Meals
Parents, if your child has received free or reduced price meals in the past, please be sure to complete the appropriate paperwork this week if you have not already. This paperwork must be completed each year, so if you have not completed this paperwork please do so as soon as possible. Students may pick up this paperwork from the office.

SCC College Day
Juniors and seniors, you are invited to sign up for the SCC College Day, scheduled for September 10 from 8:15 to 10:45. See Mrs. Klimczyk in the office for more information. The deadline to sign up is Friday, September 6.

PSAT
Juniors or seniors who wish to take the PSAT can sign-up in the office no later than Friday, September 6. The test will be given on Saturday, October 19 at 8am here at Forbush High School and the cost is $17. See Mrs. Dinkins to sign up.

Home Sports This Week
Tuesday - Volleyball vs Carver
Wednesday - Women's Tennis vs North Iredell and Volleyball vs North Iredell
Thursday - Women's Tennis vs West Stokes, JV Men's Soccer vs Reagan, and V Men's Soccer vs East Wilkes
Friday - Men's Soccer vs Parkland

That is all for this evening. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me anytime. As a reminder, please be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram to stay up-to-date on everything happening at Forbush High School. Thank you for your time this evening, goodnight.
