Principal's Message - 9/22/19

Good evening, this is Dr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

No School for Students Tomorrow
To begin this evening, I want to remind everyone that there will be no school for students tomorrow, Monday, September 23. This is a required workday for teachers. Classes resume Tuesday, September 24.

Reminder about Office Hours
Parents, if your child is having difficulty in one or more of their classes, please feel free to reach out to their teachers for more information. Also, please encourage your child to attend their teachers’ “office hours” to get extra help or make up work. All buses arrive on campus by 7:45, so bus riders have an opportunity to visit their teachers during office hours every morning.

Swim Team Interest Meeting
There will be a swim team interest meeting for all new and returning swimmers this Wednesday, September 25 at 7:45am in Coach Saddler's room (305-C). Please see Coach Beuter, Coach Vestal, or Coach Saddler if you have any questions.

Raising Awareness for Childhood Cancer
Students, this Thursday, September 26 will be PJ Day to help raise awareness for Childhood Cancer. We will be taking donations all week during 3rd period to send to the American Childhood Cancer Organization. We would like to challenge each 3rd period to raise at least $20.

Fall Blood Drive
Our Fall Blood Drive is scheduled for Friday, September 27, from 7:30am to 1:00pm. Donors must be at least 16 years old. Donors who are under 18 will need a signed parental consent form. The parental consent form may be turned in to Mrs. Sloan prior to the Blood Drive or students may bring the form on the day of the drive. All donors need a photo ID and are encouraged to hydrate by drinking at least 32 oz of water each day for 2 to 3 days prior to the Drive. Donors are also encouraged to eat foods high in iron one week prior to the Drive, including dark green leafy vegetables and iron-fortified cereals. If you need an appointment you may see Mrs. Sloan or sign up during lunches.

Juntos 4-H
Juntos 4-H is a club funded through NC State that provides mentoring for Latino students. Juntos is having a “Welcome Back to School Kick-off Party” on September 27. If you are interested in joining Juntos, please come out and bring your family. Fliers about the meeting and club applications can be found outside Mrs. Flay’s room (308-C).

Human Growth and Development Parent Night
The annual Human Growth and Development Parent Night is scheduled for Monday, September 30 at Yadkinville Elementary School. All freshmen students and their parents are invited to attend. This event will begin at 7pm in the Yadkinville Elementary School Media Center.
