Principal's Message - 8/14/16

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I hope everyone had a great weekend. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

I want to begin this evening by reminding everyone that we have updated our school Twitter account and Facebook page. You can follow us on Twitter at “ForbushHS,” and you can like us on Facebook as well. We will be posting daily event reminders and information, so please connect with us on those platforms.

Student parking passes will go on sale tomorrow from 9am to noon. Students, you must complete and have your parents sign a parking application form. These forms are available in the main office and can also be downloaded from our school website. Students, please bring the signed application form, copies of your driver’s license and vehicle registration, and the $40 parking fee to receive your parking permit.

Chromebook distribution for students in grades 10, 11, and 12 will begin this week. Chromebooks will be distributed on Wednesday from 8am to 6pm, on Thursday from 1pm to 6pm, and on Friday from 2pm to 8pm. Parents or guardians must pick up the Chromebook and the $40 rental fee is due at the time of pickup. These distribution times are for sophomores, juniors, and seniors only; freshmen will pick up Chromebooks during Freshmen Orientation on Monday, August 22.

We are excited to offer a new “Introduction to Robotics” course this year. Space is limited, so please call or email Ms. Sigmon as soon as possible if you are interested in signing up for this new course.

We have several home athletic events this week:
Monday, JV men’s soccer vs. West Forsyth
Tuesday, cross country vs. East Wilkes and Davie at 4:30, JV and Varsity men’s soccer vs. North Iredell at 5:15, and JV and Varsity volleyball vs. West Wilkes at 4:30
Friday, Varsity football vs. Elkin at 7:30

Looking ahead, I’d like to remind everyone that Freshmen Orientation is scheduled for August 22 from 1pm to 3pm. Open House is also scheduled for August 22, from 4pm to 6pm. The first day of school for students is August 24.

That is all for this evening. Don’t forget to check out Twitter or Facebook for daily updates and announcements. Also, do not hesitate to call or email me if you ever have any questions or concerns. Thank you very much for your time this evening. Good night.
