Principal's Message - 3/25/18

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

Spring Break
First, as a reminder to students and parents, Spring Break begins this Friday, March 30. There will be no school for students March 30 through April 6. Students return to class on Monday, April 9.

Congratulations
Congratulations to our Quiz Bowl team, which made it to the 4th round of competition last Saturday. Quiz Bowl members include Suzie Beamguard, Hunter Kepley, Anna Kathryn Kilby, Sarah Matthews, Jaron Sears, Madisun Shore, and Matt Wilhelm.

Congratulations to our Forbush Cheerleading team, which earned the Most Outstanding Award at their recent competition at Nationals at Canam. Congratulations on a great season.

Congratulations to our Hunter Safety team for their excellent performance last week. The Senior team finished first in Shotgun, Rifle, Archery, and Hunter Skills. Samuel Odom was the first place individual in Hunter Skills while Brady Carter was the first place individual in Rifle.

ACC Barnstorming Game
Tickets for the ACC Barnstorming Game are on sale. Tickets are $12 each and can be purchased in the office before school, after school or during lunch. Tickets are selling fast; we have only about 100 left here at Forbush, and there are about 200 still available online. Purchase your tickets before they sell out! The ACC Barnstorming Game is scheduled for April 10. We will be selling concessions, including candy, popcorn, drinks, Dominos pizza, Bojangles sandwiches, and Arby’s sandwiches. The game begins at 7:30 and gates open at 6:00.

Driver's Education
Students, if you are interested in taking Driver’s Education, the dates for the spring session are April 9 through 20. Each class begins at 3:20 and ends at 6:00. All classes will meet in the media center at Forbush High School. The fee is $65 and students must be born on or before October 17, 2003. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Pruitt in room 306-C.

Scholarships
Seniors, there are several scholarships offered through the Winston-Salem Foundation, many of which have deadlines coming up this week. Check your email or come by the Counseling Office for more information.

Clubs and Organizations
Students, if you are planning on going with Mr. Senter on the transportation field trips, be sure to get a permission form and have it returned to Mr. Senter with a parent signature by this Tuesday.

All Beta members must submit their points record sheet through Canvas by April. If you need help submitting, please see Rachel Davis. If you do not submit your points, you will be dismissed from Beta.

Tickets for our Spring Musical (“Into The Woods Jr.”) are now on sale. See a cast or crew member or Mrs. Campbell for tickets. Performances are April 20 & 21 at 7pm in the FHS auditorium.

This year’s Prom will be held April 14 at Bermuda Run from 7pm to 11pm. All fees and cafeteria debt must be paid in full before you can purchase your tickets. See Senora Helton if you have any questions.

That is all for this evening. Please be sure to check out our web site and follow us on Twitter and Facebook for daily updates. Thank you for your time this evening, goodnight.
