Principal's Message - 2/5/17

Good evening, this is Mr. Kennedy, principal of Forbush High School. I have a few announcements and updates I would like to share with you this evening.

8th Grade Open House
I want to begin this evening by reminding all parents of rising freshmen that our 8th Grade Open House is scheduled for tomorrow night, Monday, February 6. This event will begin at 5:30pm in the auditorium with important information for rising 9th grade students and parents. Following this meeting, students and parents will have the opportunity to tour the FHS campus, meet teachers and staff, and learn more about all the programs and activities we have to offer at Forbush High School. We look forward to meeting our rising 9th grade students tomorrow evening.

Clubs and Organizations
Yearbooks will be on sale for the final time this week, February 6-10. Yearbooks are $60 and you can also pay the remaining balance on a book over the course of this week. There are a limited number of books left, so reserve your copy next week!

HOSA would like to thank all who participated in the Band-Aids for Brenner’s initiative. We were able to collect 209 boxes of Band-Aids for Brenner’s. Our overall winner was Mrs. Saddler classes with 62 boxes of Band Aids. Coming in a close 2nd was Mr. Brusseau with 53 boxes.

Additional Announcements and Reminders
I want to remind everyone about a few calendar changes approved by the Yadkin County Board of Education. On February 24 there will be no school for students. February 28 is now a student day. Also, May 8 is now a student day (serving as a snow make-up day).

Athletic Events
Tuesday: Basketball vs. Surry Central (home)
Also, the swim team competes in the State Finals on Thursday in Cary, the cheerleading squad competes in a national competition in Florida beginning Thursday, the indoor track team competes in the state finals on Friday in Winston-Salem, and the wrestling team competes in regionals on Saturday at West Wilkes High School. Best of luck to all of our student athletes!

That is all for this evening. Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter or like us on Facebook for daily updates and announcements. Also, do not hesitate to call or email me if you ever have any questions or concerns. Thank you very much for your time this evening. Good night.
